About Gustav Ericsson
 Gustav Ericsson was born 1978 in Umeå, Sweden. He is a Christian and will be ordained as a priest in the Church of Sweden in June 2010. He lives in Umeå with his wife and son.
As a teenager, Gustav became interested in learning from other religious traditions. He found himself especially drawn to the practice and teachings of zazen, and he began travelling to meet teachers and participate in retreats.
In early 2001, Gustav met Zen Master Nishijima in Tokyo. Nishijima was interested in Christianity, and they became good friends. Gustav returned to Japan many times to learn zazen practice from Master Nishijima.
In June 2004, Gustav received certification to teach zazen from Master Nishijima. He began leading zazen in churches and at Umeå university. In 2009, Gustav started Anzenkai and arranged the first Anzenkai sesshin on the island Holmön, near Umeå. |
